Westfield is buzzing with excitement as the time has come to cast your vote for this year’s 2024 Westfield Local Heroes Awards!
We are excited to announce that our Co Founder, Club President, Umpire and Player, Emilie Barker, is one of the top 3 finalist in the 2024 Westfield Local Heroes Competition and she needs your support to win!
Emilie Barker Co-Founded The Minhi’s Netball Club with her sister Sallie-Ann in 2019, in memory of loved ones and to promote good health among First Nations People. Emilie balances multiple roles as President, Competition Coordinator, Student and Carer for her Nan. With over 100 members, Emilie has created an inclusive environment that celebrates Aboriginal culture and promotes well-being.
Her dedication and passion for helping her First Nations girls in Netball, have truly made a difference in our community. If Emilie is successful, she will use the grant money to pay for the costs of registration and fees, provide cultural awareness training and enhance and improve the club by upgrading facilities and purchasing new equipment.
Emilie Barker has been a beacon of hope and inspiration for our younger First Nations generation through her remarkable volunteer work at The Minhi's Netball Club. With 10+ years of experience and volunteering in the Netball Community, her tireless efforts have provided critical support and a safe space to underserved First Nations Girls and Boys.
Fostering inclusive opportunities to both Indigenous and Non Indigenous People, Emilie’s commitment not only uplifts those she directly serves but also inspires others to get involved and make a positive impact.
